How To Grow Cannabis Indoor

Would you like to grow some of the green stuff for yourself, but can’t grow outdoors?

Great! This is a simple beginners guide to growing Cannabis indoors.

  • Never buy weed again.
  • Grow so discreetly that your neighbours won’t notice
  • Don’t rely on shady character to supply this to you ever again

Growing Cannabis is easy because…

It is a resilient, fast growing plant.

It grows like a weed, literally. Indoors, it can take around 4-6 months to go from seed to smokeable product.

Cannabis will grow under not so ideal conditions, making it an ideal beginners plant.

Where To Grow

Growing Indoors is safer than outdoors. You are able to hide your setup well inside your house.

Also, you won’t be dependent on the weather. Cannabis needs lots of sun.

Your indoor setup will ideally be placed in a small room, like a closet, a garage, a cellar, the attic or your garden shed.

Make sure nobody else can access the place. Be very discreet with your setup, nobody should really know about this.

You will need electricity and a window or a vent to get rid of used air. And there must be a way for fresh air to enter the space. fresh air can enter through a vent or wind, but you can also let the grow box “suck” it in through your house. As long as you have light and ventilation, you should be ok.

Equipment To Use

The parts needed to grow inside are widely available to buy, whether you purchase at walmart or on ebay. A grow requires the same standard parts which are being used by gardeners to grow tomatoes, Orchids and all kind of other plants.

So it’s totally legal to buy them.

Some items you will want to pick up are listed below. Keep scrolling to read more in depth about each item in the list.

  • Light
  • Fan
  • Grow Tent or Closet (optional to keep the light contained)
  • fabric pots, seed germinators and potting mix
  • Fertilizer

Lighting

Cannabis needs lots of light.

The best option currently are HPS (High Pressure Sodium) lamps. They produce lots of light per electricity. They are also fairly inexpensive to buy.

On the downside HPS lamps produce lots of heat and do use lots of electricity.

Alternatively, you could use LED grow lights. Quality grow bulbs will work just as well but are much more expensive to buy.

If you want to grow on a very small scale you could use CFL lamps. 1 x 150 Watt CFL will work for 1-3 plants, but if you are going to grow I recommend spending the extra money to build out your environment.

HPS will be the best bulb as an all-round solution. These lights also normally come with a ballast for the bulb.

Air

Cannabis needs fresh air to grow properly. Grow areas that are not well ventilated tent to develop insects like spidermites which will diminish the harvest.

A carbon filter can also help remove the typical cannabis flowering smell so neighbors cannot smell it.

Generally speaking, smaller setups can function just fine without a filter, but you will still want good intake and exhaust ventilation in the environment.

Environment

You have a couple of options for the environment. If you bought the grow tent you probably don’t really need this walkthrough. But if you are building a makeshift closet, cabinet or speaker box then you will want to have an environment big enough to fit the plant(s) the entire time, through vegetation and flowering. I have made a quick blueprint with dimensions for an ideal small, one plant grow.

If you dont want to build a wooden box, buy a grow tent.

Pots & Soil

Fabric Pots are a newer thing in the grow community. They work better than solid plastic pots. This helps the roots breathe and the oxygen reach the roots. It will also help with excess water draining.

For an indoor grow, consider a 2 gallon pot to give your root base enough room to grow. You can always transplant if you need later.

Buy great quality garden soil from the garden centre / hardware store. I recommend using FoxFarm soil and nutrients. Get the best mix you can. It will be the basis of your healthy plants.

With good soil, your plant will have good enough nutrients for the first 3 weeks of life. So you won’t need to worry about fertilizer right off the bat.

Seeds

Finally. For me this is the most exciting part of the initial grow process. Make sure you find yourself a good seed vendor. You will also need to know the difference between Indica, Sativa and Ruderalis. You may also want to read up on Autoflowering seeds as well.

It’s easiest to grow from Cannabis seeds. Clones are a bit trickier at times, and if you don’t know what your doing you can kill them.

If you have some seeds laying around from an old bag, they will work just fine. You could also order seeds online. A good seed shop will hide the seeds well in the parcel. I do not endorse Nirvana Shop, but I have used them and can confirm they are legit.

Healthy seeds have this beautiful tiger marble color. Dead seeds are hollow or black. A good, simple test for a seed is to squeeze it in your fingers. If it breaks, it was a bad seed. Any dark white looking seed is most likely premature and will break when tested.

Growing

Plant your seeds about knuckle deep after they have germinated and follow the proper light cycle.
