Moonrocks is arguably the strongest form of cannabis on the market, often referred to as Cannabis Caviar. It’s also one of the easiest THC concoctions to make. All you need is come cannabis nugs, hash oil (or dabs), and a good amount of kief. That’s it. Now you can make yourself a very potent smoke session with nearly 50% THC content.
What You’ll Need to Know
- Kief –refers to the resin trichomes of cannabis that may accumulate at the bottom of grinders or be sifted from loose dry cannabis flower with a mesh screen or sieve.
- Trichromes – Tiny crystals that form on the leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant. These crystals contain the highest concentration of cannabinoids compared to any other part of the cannabis plant.
- Kief Box or Grinder– Used to separate the crystals from the rest of the bud, producing an elegant and adamant powder—also known as kief.
- Hash Oil / Dabs – Natural oils produced via extraction process from cannabis and hashish. The result is a sticky resinous (sometimes dark) liquid with a strong terpene & herbal fragrance. (remarkably different smell than most cannabis strains). If you need a less solid consistency, put the oil/dabs in the sun. Do NOT use the microwave.
- Dropper / Syringe – A convenient way to get just the right amount of cannabis oil that you need.
- Tweezers – Used to assist in holding the nug during the kief and oil process. You can also simply use a nug with a good sized stem, instead of tweezers.
Now that we have some background knowledge on the ingredients and terms needed, let’s dive into how exactly moonrocks are made.
How To Make Moonrocks
- Find yourself a nice size nug, with a good round shape. Remember, the more compact the bud, the easier it will be to maneuver.
- Using your dropper or syringe, drizzle some warm hash oil over the entire nug. You want the bud to be fully covered, but not dripping. I like to wrap the nug like an xmas tree getting lights, with one consistent line wrapping the nug from top to bottom (see photo below).
- Allow the oil to set into the nug for a short while (5 or 10 minutes), spread the oil on the nug if needed.
- Use the tweezers (or nug stem) to pick up the Oil Coated Nug.
- You can now either sprinkle kief powder on the nug or roll the coated nug in a pile of kief. Be sure to rotate the nug as you dress it.
- Now, set the bud aside to dry for at least 24 hours. I like to let my sit for at least a couple days. This helps ensure the oil will dry enough to help with more even burning of the nug when smoked.
- Smoke and enjoy!

Notice how the nug isn’t completely covered. This will allow the oils to spread more evenly during the drying process.
The product speaks for itself in quality, and as soon as you burn it, you’ll understand what all the hype is.
The high levels of THC make moon rocks an effective pain reliever, and the high levels of CBD combat anxiety, depression, and insomnia.
For the best taste and smoke, it’s recommended to use a pipe or hash bowl, and it’s important to avoid using a grinder as you will lose most of the kief in that process.
